Hey all! I am a newcomer to Beliefnet. Let me first start by introducing myself a bit. My name is Matthew, and I am a Southern Baptist currently obtaining a B.A. in Biblical Studies from a Christian college. I have to write a paper for a class about differing views on Jesus. I figured this would be a good place to get answers.

First, let me explain that I AM NOT TRYING TO START A DEBATE. I won't even respond to these answers besides thanking you for providing them. I respect you and your beliefs, and while I respectfully disagree, I will not dispute your answers. This is purely for a research project.

The questions are:

1. In your opinion, was Jesus a real person?

2. What is your personal view about who Jesus was?

3. Do you believe theres any difference between the real Jesus and the Jesus of the Bible? If so, what?

4. Where did you get your ideas about Jesus?

5. In your opinion, does the character of Christians today reflect the character of Jesus?

I thank you in advance for taking the time to help me out!

Namaste Matt,

imho, interfaith forum would be a better place.

1. Yes
2. Second Person of God, known in various teistic traditions under many names
3. No. There is no extra-biblical evidence known to me to support it. (I don't take Gnostic sources as reliable.)
4. From my own comparative study and realizations.
5. Those few Christians I personally know do reflect His character quite well.

My conclusion can be considered unique among Vaishnavas but it's my conclusion.

Hope this helps. Hare Krishna
